Open Library - Tentative
The Verein cotinues to offer individual help with Pomeranian research. Because of Pomerntag in June, we will not meet on the usual Sunday, but will try to accommodate festival visitors by openng the library on Saturday, June 20th, and again on Monday, June 30th, at 10:00 a.m. both days. Other tentative summer dates are Sunday, July 20th and Sunday, August 24th at 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m.

Frauengruppe
The Frauengruppe meets at the Lindenwood Community Center located at 12351 N. Granville Road in Mequon, Wisconsin from 11:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. Meeting dates are scheduled for Thursday, June 12th and Thursday, September 11. There will be no meetings in July and August.
The Frauengruppe is an auxiliary of the Pommerscher Verein Freistadt. They help with record-keeping and filing for the library, view the latest acquisitions, and have access to resources to help them in their own research. They are a service organization but also enjoy Kaffeeklatsching. New members are always welcome. Bring a bag lunch; dessert and beverage are provided.

Pommerscher Verein Freistadt Monthly Meetings
Monthly meetings are held at 7:30 p.m. at the Lindenwood Community Center, 12351 N. Granville Road, Mequon, WI. The building is usually open by 6:30 p.m. for members who would like to attend the German class conducted by Irmgard Meyer or those who would like to browse the library.
Friday, August 8 - Dr. Hans-Dieter Wallschläger. Dr. Wallschläger of the University of Potsdam and also chairman of the Heimatkreis Cammin will give a powerpoint program on Kreis Cammin. He will be using his laptop and database of 70,000 people relating to the Kreis. No business meeting is planned, so there will be plenty of time for questions.
Friday, September 12 - Trieglaff, Pomerania - As It is Today. We will have the privilege of hearing how the Polish people adjusted to moving into and living in the former Pomeranian villages after World War II. Magdalena Momot and her family farmed the von Thadden estates in the Trieglaf area of Kreis Greifenberg. In her presentation to us, Magdalena will talk about she wanted to learn more about the former residents of Trieglaff and thus took up German Studies at the Univerdity of Goettingen. She and the Rudolf von Thadden family have become close friends. Rudolf von Thadden will also give a talk about his experiences during and after World War II at Trinity Lutheran Church September 5 (see below)

Friday, September 5, 7:00 p.m. Memories of Pomerania - During and After World War II
Rudolf von Thadden lived on the family estate in Trieglaff, Kreis Greifenberg, during World War II. He was there in 1945 as the Russian Army swept through Pomerania on their way to Berlin and remained there ubtil 1947. He will share his memories of that time with us. The talk will be held at Trinity Lutheran Church, 10729 West Freistadt Road, Mequon, WI. Everyone is welcome. Magdalena Momot, whose family lived on the formar von Thadden estate after the von Thadden family left, will talk of her experiences at the Verein monthly meeting September 12 (see above).
