Historic German Books
When you clean out Grandpa and Grandma’s attic, what do you do with the old German books? You donate them to the Trinity Freistadt Historical Society.  No one can read them anyway!  Dr. Mark Louden, professor of German from the University of Wisconsin — Madison , can!  He has helped to sort and catalogue about 2,000 books in the Society’s possession.  On this evening, he will offer a sampling of this fascinating collection, and, in doing so, provide insight into the lifestyles and beliefs of these earlier times. Come and find out what a young man pasted inside a German grammar book in 1940 to get him through! See a rare “Handbook for the Immigrant” in German and English.
